Be cautious of any solicitor who guarantees winning your case, promises a particular compensation figure, or pressures you to sign immediately. Unclear fees, unexplained charges, vague terms of business, poor communication and reluctance to discuss likely risks are also warning signs. Check that the firm and solicitor are properly regulated, such as by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), and look for relevant employment-law experience. Before instructing them, compare quotes and ask a clear, written explanation of the funding arrangement, likely costs and what happens if your claim is unsuccessful.
